Code of Conduct
Our Pledge
We, as members, contributors, and leaders of the Remote Valley OS community, pledge to make participation in our project and community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.
Our Standards
Expected Behavior
- Be respectful and considerate of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Give and accept constructive feedback gracefully
- Take responsibility for your mistakes and learn from them
- Focus on what is best for the community and the communities we serve
- Use welcoming and inclusive language
- Show empathy toward other community members
Unacceptable Behavior
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
- Trolling, insulting, or derogatory comments
- Personal or political attacks
- Publishing others’ private information without explicit permission
- Sexual language or imagery of any kind
- Other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional or community setting
Enforcement Responsibilities
Community leaders (repository maintainers, module leads, and the governance committee) are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards. They will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, including:
- GitHub repositories, issues, pull requests, and discussions
- Community chat channels and forums
- Video calls and in-person meetups
- Project-related events and residencies
- Correspondence related to the project
It also applies when an individual is representing the project or community in public spaces.
Reporting
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, report it to conduct@mountaineer.fi.
All reports will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly. Reports are handled confidentially.
What to include in a report:
- Your contact information
- Names (if known) of those involved
- Description of the incident
- Date, time, and location/medium
- Any supporting evidence (screenshots, links)
- Whether you have attempted to address the issue directly
Enforcement Guidelines
Community leaders will follow these guidelines when determining consequences for violations.
1. Correction
Community impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome.
Consequence: A private, written warning explaining why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
2. Warning
Community impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.
Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved for a specified period, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
3. Temporary Ban
Community impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.
Consequence: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period. No public or private interaction with the people involved is allowed during this period.
4. Permanent Ban
Community impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.
Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.
