Three months ago, I spent three weeks in Jumla, Nepal — one of the most remote places in the Himalayas. No grid power. No paved roads. No internet.

What I found was a community that had everything they needed except the right tools.

So we built an open-source “operating system” for remote communities. Five interconnected systems:

♻️ Trash to Filament — collect plastic waste, shred it, extrude it into 3D printer filament, print replacement parts 💧 Water Purification — pre-filter → membrane → UV → clean drinking water for 500+ people per node ⚡ Energy Microgrid — solar + hydro + battery, 24/7 power for a village (design targets 50kWh/day) 🍎 Food Production — cold storage, cider press, vinegar fermentation, dehydrator — 10x farmer income 🚗 Logistics EV — 50km EV corridor with charging stations, plus eVTOL cargo drone for emergency supply 📡 Mesh Communication — LoRa backbone spanning the valley, Wi-Fi clusters in villages, local LLM for offline AI assistance

Every design is open source. Every module is documented with build guides, BOMs, and operator manuals. Hardware under CERN OHL-S. Software under AGPL-3.0. Docs under CC BY-SA 4.0.

We also built a residency program (come live in Jumla for 3-12 months and build) and a remote accelerator (contribute from anywhere).

This is v0.1. Far from finished. But it exists, it works, and it’s free.
